Former WBC/WBA heavyweight champion Joe Frazier (32-4-1, 27 KO’s) is reportedly very ill with liver cancer according to news from Yahoo Sports. Frazier, 67, received the diagnosis a little over a month ago and the situation is very serious. Boxingnews24.com hopes Frazier can pull through this.
Frazier’s career was filled with impressive wins over fighters like Muhammad Ali, Joe Bugner, Bob Foster, Jerry Quarry, Jimmy Ellis, Ron Stander, Buster Mathis, and Oscar Bonavena. Frazier lost his titles to George Foreman in a 2nd round TKO loss in January 1973. From there, Frazier would go on to fight Ali two more times, losing both of them, and also fighting Foreman once more and suffering a 5th round TKO loss. But for a short period of time between 1971 and 1973, Frazier was considered the best heavyweight in the world.
