Carrie Underwood Comes Out In Support Of Same-Sex Marriage
Country singer Carrie Underwood has voiced her support of the legalization of gay marriage in the U.S. The former American Idol champion, who is a devout Christian, insists her own marriage to hockey player Mike Fisher has made her believe all American citizens should be allowed to marry who they want. She tells The Independent newspaper, "As a married person myself, I don't know what it's like to be told I can't marry somebody I love, and want to marry. I can't imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love." Underwood reveals her non-denominational church accepts both gay and straight worshippers, insisting it's not a Christian's place to judge. She adds, "Our church is gay friendly. Above all, God wanted us to love others. It's not about setting rules, or (saying) 'everyone has to be like me'. No. We're all different. That's what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It's not up to me to judge anybody." President Barack Obama endorsed same-sex marriage across America last month, receiving praise from stars like Mia Farrow, former supermodel Tyra Banks and lesbians Ellen DeGeneres and Chely Wright.
Grammy’s With the Gays Saves the Day
Cranky fell apart last week. Why? Cranky’s husband took a powder that’s why. Cranky’s usual powers of concentration were gone gone.
I had a few incidents that made me doubt my sanity. Which takes a lot because Cranky already accepts that she’s a bit crazy. But I was saved. Thank goodness for the gays and the dermatologists. And especially my beloved dermatologist! Because when you are flung “out there” again a girl needs a bit of a lift, you know?
But I digress.
Last week. Had a meeting with my boss and an important luncheon. And the running question all day that my boss had was; “Where is my manila envelope with the information I need to write the proposal?” “Ah, I don’t know. I haven’t seen it,” answered Cranky. “Are you sure?” asked my boss. “Never saw it,” I say. This goes on all day. We search the car. We search my partner’s car. At the end of the day the boss puts me in a car and has her assistant drive me all the way to the Westchester office to see if she left it there. It is 7:00 at night. It’s an empty warehouse building. I unlock three doors, turn on lights in the pitch-black building and turn off the alarm system. The “envelope” is not there. The assistant drops me at the train and one minute before my train to Grand Central arrives I get a text from my boss: “Are you SURE you don’t have it?” I give out an exasperated sigh and open my briefcase. There it is. It is a folder, not an envelope, which is what I was looking for all day. I text my boss back: The fucking folder is in my fucking briefcase.” She calls me,” Get in a cab and bring it to me.” So I get in brand X car service car and go from one Westchester town to another to find the restaurant she is in now. My boss talks really really fast and I cannot understand the name of the restaurant or the address. And I can’t keep saying, “What what what?” because even if the other person is completely unintelligible, if you keep saying “what what what?” they think you are the stupid one. So I end up doing multiple U-turns on a dark suburban street while the Hispanic driver looks at me like I’m a complete idiot. By the third phone call I ascertain that she had given me the wrong street name. It was Envelope. Just kidding.
The next day I go to work to find out that I had entered the wrong code into the alarm and the police came and we are being charged one hundred and fifty bucks for the unnecessary visit. The landlord is happy because he hates me and has the whole thing on tape from the security camera. “She was in the building for six minutes!” I can hear him yelling up and down the hall.
How dare my ex-husband make me this way.
Then I did background work on “Damages” on my day off and left my wallet on the roof when I went up there to take pictures of the view. My wallet. On the roof. A crew member by some miracle found it and gave it to me. I was completely unaware that I had lost it.
I guess I had lost it in more ways than one.
But then I got to watch “The Grammy’s” with the gays. They set Cranky straight. “It’s all about moving past it,” they tell me. “We have to find you a song.” They were SO FUN. And Cranky found some perfect songs. That darling Taylor Swift really hit the nail on the head with that “Mean” song. And Adele gave me chills with her “Rolling in the Deep” performance. They are on my IPod now and I play them every morning when I get ready for work where I am making believe I am a businesswoman. With a briefcase. My latest role.
I was feeling better already. But then I went to see my beloved dermatologist Dr. David Colbert who really helped me back to being my old self. Because if you at least look good you can feel a bit better about life. One session with him and I am a new woman. The stress of losing my partner of twenty years no longer shows. And thankfully I have been eating well ever since he suggested his book; “The High School Reunion Diet.” (see post: “Cranky Tries a Diet”.) And I have been wearing clothes I haven’t worn in years. And there is actually room in them. And it is not a diet. Because I cannot diet. I think this eating plan might actually be the true “Hollywood Diet Secret” that you read about in the fashion mags. The book is endorsed by Michelle Williams, the star of “My Week With Marilyn,” and Sienna Miller, Rachel Weisz and Adriana Lima, who calls it the “successful model’s secret to glowing skin and a lean, healthy body.” And I am sure they all go to him to get their amazing complexions. That dewy dewy look in “My Week With Marilyn” may not be just good genes. (see post “Behind Every Great Actress is a Great Dermatologist.”)
The book is the perfect thing because you have to make sure you look great in case you run into your ex because they have to see you and feel sorry that they left. Or something.
So the gays and the brilliant dermatologist/diet book author saved the day. “WE COULD’VE HAD IT ALL…….”

Maria Menounos Sexually Abused By Two Doctors
During a candid interview with Howard Stern for his Sirius satellite radio show on Monday, "Extra" host Maria Menounos revealed that she has a strong fear of doctors - and not for the usual reasons such as needles or getting back test results - but because she's had more than one of them touch her in a sexual way.
The Dancing With The Stars finalist told Stern that one time during a visit to a physician the doc asked her to change into a hospital gown, and then started to fondle her private parts when he returned to the exam room-- while she was there for a throat ailment.
Maria, who was joined by boyfriend of 14 years Kevin Undargaro, tells Stern, "I was really young, so I was so uncomfortable. Kevin was in the waiting room and I literally started screaming...
"I was just so uncomfortable I didn't know what to do."
And the incident wasn't the only time it's happened to her in the past - she also shared a story of a former gynecologist who once touched and compliment her belly-button piercing, something she found a little awkward.
She says she now takes her boyfriend into the exam room with her during all of her doctor's visits.
On a lighter not, aside from the stories of sexual abuse & harassment, Maria and Kevin were grilled by the America's Got Talent judge on his favorite subject: sex.
Stern, naturally, asked for details about the couple's sex life and got Kevin to share one of the couple's intimate secrets - that Maria likes to be choked whenever she has an orgasm.
Stern also inquired as to whether or not anything happened between Maria and her Dancing With The Stars partner Derek Hough, but she said that although the two remain friends, nothing happened.
And if anything did, Kevin doesn't want to know about it.
"You know what, Howard? I just put my mind on other things," he said. "It’s A: I trust Maria, and B: what can I do?"
'Mad Men's' Fifth Season Finale Drew Biggest Audience Ever
For AMC, "Mad Men" has been a resounding success. And now the show has added another feather to its cap.
On the fifth season finale on Sunday night, 2.7 million viewers tuned in to see how Don, Peter, Joan, Roger et al dealt with the suicide of their colleague Lane Pryce, according to The Telegraph.
This season an average of 2.6 million people tuned in to each episode, an increase of 15 percent over the fourth season. It's rare for a show that's been around so long to draw additional viewers. Some credit the long stretch between seasons and the availability of previous seasons on DVD and Netflix for the increase.
The fifth season covered cheating spouses, LSD trips, fist fights, and other office politics.
The show's creator Matthew Weiner said in a statement about the ratings, "We make 'Mad Men' for the fans. My goal is to tell a compelling story and entertain people and it thrills me that people keep watching."

Cancer Survivor Kathryn Joosten Says Smokers On 'Mad Men' Set Bad Example
Two-time cancer survivor Kathryn Joosten is calling for "Mad Men" bosses to air a warning about the hazards of smoking before characters light up on the hit drama.
The "Desperate Housewives" star stamped out her 45-year smoking habit in 2001 after she was diagnosed with lung cancer. She was told she had the deadly disease again last year and underwent surgery before being declared cancer-free in January.
The 70 year old admits she's worried that the characters in "Mad Men," about the advertising industry in 1960s New York, set a bad example for viewers by frequently puffing away on cigarettes.
And the actress is urging producers to address the issue with an official caution.
She tells EOnline.com, "I think they should at least have a disclaimer at the front of the show saying smoking is relevant to the time and place with the subject matter we're dealing with and it is not recommended because it causes cancer. They should at least do that."
Joosten also wants TV executives to pay for annual chest X-rays "for any member of the cast and crew who wants one."
'Desperate Housewives' Actress Kathryn Joosten Dies At 72
Desperate Housewives star Kathryn Joosten died on Saturday at her home in Westlake Village, California, after a long battle with lung cancer. She was 72.
Joosten's agent, Nadine Jolson, confirmed the news with E! Online on Saturday; saying, "Kathryn passed away this morning after a valiant fight against her cancer. Her family was with her. Funeral arrangements are pending. This is a terrible loss, and she fought as hard as she could."
The actress began her career as a nurse in her home town of Chicago, Ill. before turning to acting at the age of 42.
Best known for her role as meddling neighbor Karen McCluskey on Desperate Housewives; who - ironically - lost her battle with lung cancer on the series finale just weeks ago; Joosten won a pair of Emmy Awards for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her recurring role on the show.
She also became known for her role as the President's secretary Mrs. Landingham on The West Wing; and she also starred in numerous TV series, including My Name Is Earl, Monk, Grey's Anatomy, Las Vegas, The Closer, Scrubs and Ally McBeal. Her recent feature film credits include the role of Mrs. Dixon in Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories, and as the mobility scooter-riding Aunt Jackie Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.
Joosten also served as the national spokesperson for drug company Pfizer's Lung Cancer Profiles campaign. She beat the disease twice in the past before finally losing her third battle over the weekend.
The star is survived by two sons, Jonathan and Timothy, who released the following statement: "The family of Kathryn Joosten, two-time Emmy winner, long-time Governor of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, lung cancer advocate, and so much more, regrets to announce that Kathryn succumbed to her 11-year battle with lung cancer today, June 2, 2012, surrounded by love and humor til the end. Thanks to everyone for their love and support. We are laughing through our tears. We love you, Kathy, thanks for everything."
Desperate Housewives co-star Felicity Huffman paid tribute to her co-star via Twitter on Saturday night, writing, "Rest in peace, she was an amazing woman and a wonderful actress."

Linda Hogan Calls Off Relationship With Much Younger Boyfriend Charley Hill
Linda Hogan has waited patiently to tell her side of the story of her 2009 divorce from wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, and she pulls no punches in setting the record straight about the split in the memoir'Wrestling the Hulk,' telling PopEater about her motives for writing it and the truth about her new engagement to 22-year-old "soul mate," Charley Hill. Linda, who has kept her ex's surname of Bollea, says it comes down to his alleged cheating and the collapse of trust that came with it. "He's the one who has to live with himself and look in the mirror knowing what he's done, destroyed a family," she tells us, adding that she's forgiven him even though he won't cop to his mistakes.
"I have moved on and forgiven him even though he's never apologized to me or the kids," she told us. "We go through the lawyers. I couldn't care less if I don't talk to him but my kids suffer. It's kind of a cowardly way out. I hope some day he can grow up and be a big boy and talk to his ex-wife for his kids sake."
Did you write this book in response to your husband's memoir?
No, my book had nothing to do with Terry's book. I had a journal I kept for many years and during the divorce it was really difficult to voice my opinion, not that I needed to, but my divorce was so public, it was like my husband was using every media campaign to get his hands on to try and out me and make me look like the bad guy and I really didn't have a voice in that and I thought with my son having got in that horrific accident and going to jail and the divorce, it was just not the time to air my dirty laundry and make things worse. I didn't want to be pouring fuel on the fire then but I thought at some point I will be able to talk and tell my accounting of what I think happened in my marriage which is the truth. it's been a long time coming and I hope that with millions of women in the world going through the same situation as I went through, hopefully when they read the book they'll be able to feel a little bit better knowing that there's some help out there, learn something from this and I'm hoping to help women move forward from sticky situations.
Were you frustrated at being portrayed as the bad guy?
Right, at this point nobody heard my side, he went out there and made it look like I was screwing some 19 year old, my kid's high school friend and it was nothing like that, trying to make it like maybe I was the one possibly doing the cheating. It killed me but I had good lawyers, everything is going through the court system, I don't want to look like a blabbermouth, the truth will come out. At that point I didn't really care what the public thought of me. I was concerned about my kids who were already being embarrassed enough by the public divorce. My job first was to be a good mom, make sure I got through this divorce without too much trouble.
Tell me about those last few years of the marriage.
I was doing all the gluing and mending and keeping the family together. Making everyone look good, handling the show and the kids careers, handling the animals, the house, the TV show. I was like the camel, they just loaded me up. It just got to the point where I had a feeling my husband was having an affair, I knew it in my heart of hearts, I just didn't have proof. When a husband is cheating he doesn't act the same, I certainly knew that, I knew there was a problem.
Do you wish you had had the guts to leave earlier?
I think that would be my message to women, just quit making excuses for everything. Look at the situation, maybe write things down because sometimes they become clearer when you see them on a piece of paper. I just think like stop messing around, Life is short, nobody is guaranteed 90 years here and at some point, you know your kids are going to be ok and when you find out your husband is doing that to you, you really don't have faith in anything anymore, it's gone. I said to myself, 'I cried my last tear over him, he's not worth it. I'm not going to feel sorry for myself, I feel sorry for him. He's the one who has to live with himself and look in the mirror knowing what he's done, destroyed a family.
Do you talk at all?
I don't speak to him. I'm able to forgive and move on. I have moved on and forgiven him even though he's never apologized to me or the kids. We go through the lawyers. I couldn't care less if I don't talk to him but my kids suffer. He only wants to communicate through lawyers which leads me to the conclusion that he doesn't want to have to account for any past actions. It's kind of a cowardly way out. I hope some day he can grow up and be a big boy and talk to his ex-wife for his kids sake.
How's Charley?
We've been dating for three years. He's a soul mate. I really needed somebody at that time in my life, I was alone and needed someone so much. He became a great friend and then it became physical and emotional and everything else. He's just a super, awesome person. He's proposed to me and I've accepted. It's not like it's a cut and concrete things. It's just something we would like to do. I love being with someone younger, I'm kind of a young spirit and he's kind of an old soul so it works out.
He is about 30 years younger and one of your son's friends, though.
My husband made everyone think he was my son's high school friend. It wasn't like that at all. He attended the same school in a different year. My kids did not know him and I didn't meet Charley until almost ten months after I'd filed for divorce. My husband was already living with another woman way before that.

Channing Tatum may star in "White House Down"
Channing Tatum is in talks to star in Roland Emmerich's latest action flick, "White House Down," an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap. Sony acquired James Vanderbilt's spec script earlier this year for $3 million and then signed up director Emmerich, known for disaster films like "Independence Day" and "2012." This film is advertised as "Die Hard" in the White House, so explosive catastrophe can't be too far away. A Sony spokesman declined to comment on the casting. Tatum has been mixing up genres of late, starring in the Sony comedy "21 Jump Street" and its romantic drama "The Vow." Both "21 Jump Street" and "The Vow" did well at the box office, further boosting Tatum's status as a male lead. The former male stripper will hit the big screen twice this summer, in Steven Soderbergh's "Magic Mike" and "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," the sequel to the 2009 hit. Emmerich is producing "White House Down" with Vanderbilt, Bradley Fisher, Laeta Kaloridies and Bradley Fischer.
'Kourtney and Kim Take New York': Kris Humphries Lies About A Party He Threw
It was Kris Humphries' party, and he'll lie if he wants to. On "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" (Sun., 10PM ET on E!) Humphries got into more hot water with his now ex-wife Kim Kardashian by throwing a party in their shared hotel suite and being less-than honest about the festivities.
Scott, who's been hanging with the Kardashian sisters a lot longer than Kris has, warned his not-quite-brother-in-law that having a party in their suite was a terrible idea. But Kris was determined to prove he was his own man and show Scott that he's not whipped.
He was defiant even when he finally admitted that it wasn't his party -- Scott had tried to take the blame for it to pull some of the heat off of Kris. Should he have gotten in trouble, or should he be allowed to throw a party in their suite if he wants to? Or was it more about the keeping of secrets and lies that put him in the doghouse?
While Kris Humphries is insisting he wants to move on with his life post-Kardashian, it's not that easy to do when he's a weekly fixture in their world this season. And then there's the Twitter feed that broke a few days ago.
It was created back in September when Kris and Kim were still together, but features evidence of two girls hanging out -- allegedly with Kris -- in what appears to be their hotel suite. More answers Kris needs to come up with before he can move on?
